How to Counter Seven in Deadlock (2026)

Last updated: June 3, 2026

Seven has been the #1 hero in the game for a while, and nothing feels worse than getting wiped by a Storm Cloud you couldn't escape. The good news: he's one of the most counterable carries in Deadlock once you know the trick — he's immobile, his ult is interruptible, and it does nothing if you break line of sight. Here's how to shut him down.

Quick answer: Interrupt his Storm Cloud ultimate with Knockdown or Curse, break line of sight (his ult deals zero damage to enemies it can't see), spread out, and stack Spirit Resilience plus anti-heal.

The threat

Seven's Storm Cloud is a channeled, expanding AoE that melts a grouped team — and he gains big bullet resist while channeling, so you can't just shoot him out of it. His lightning kit also stuns (Static Charge) and out-DPSes you in lane.

Counter items

ItemWhy
Knockdown KnockdownA stun that interrupts his ult mid-channel. The textbook answer.
Curse CurseSilence disarm that also interrupts the channel — the premium late-game shutdown.
Spirit Resilience Spirit ResilienceSpirit resist to survive Storm Cloud's damage (this is the renamed "Improved Spirit Armor").
Decay Decay / Healbane HealbaneAnti-heal vs lifesteal-Seven builds.
⚠ Don't buy the wrong item: a plain Silence does NOT interrupt an ult that's already channeling — it only blocks new casts. To stop Storm Cloud once it's running you need a stun (Knockdown) or Curse.

Positioning & counter-picks

  • Break line of sight — duck behind a wall and Storm Cloud does no damage to you. This is his hard-coded weakness.
  • Spread out so one cloud can't catch the team, and blow him up the instant he commits (he's rooted for the channel).
  • Counter-picks: Bebop Bebop hooks him out of position; Paradox Paradox swaps him out of his own cloud.
🎮 Dota 2 players: treat Storm Cloud like a channeled ult (Black Hole, Death Ward) — you don't out-trade it, you interrupt or LoS it. And as in Dota, a Silence ≠ a hard interrupt.
