- The first thing while filling a cheque, that is to whom you are writing the cheque for. Remember whom you want to give this cheque. Like either you are writing it for a person, an organization or you want to withdraw it for yourself.
- At first you have to fill the date/month and year. It will be on the right side of the cheque written in the format DD/MM and YYYY.
Write the date in place of DD, for MM you have to write the month and mention year YYYY instead of years. This cheque will be valid for 3 months after putting the date.
- In the place of PAY you have to write the person’s or organizations name to whom you are writing the cheque.
Also, if you are writing the cheque for yourself, then you can write SELF or you can normally write your own name for withdrawing it for your own.
- Now the next step is to write the specific amount which you are willing to pay from your account. The amount should be written in words and in the space given for filling the amount.
- Use the word ONLY after writing the amount for example – the sum of ₹5,000 will be written as Five Thousand Only. The use of word only is necessary to avoid manipulation of your cheque amount.
- If you don’t know how to fill a cheque, then after filling the amount in words you have to fill it in numbers. There is a box on the right of the cheque where you have to fill in the amount in numbers. Write amount in this manner “5,000/-“
