If you like the Nintendo Switch and you love Ratchet & Clank, don’t worry! These games are sure to be fun for you.
For gamers, exclusive games can be a real pain. It’s good for consumers when brands compete with each other, but it’s too bad that many players haven’t played games in series like Halo, The Legend of Zelda, or Uncharted.
Another exclusive series that a lot of gamers haven’t been able to get is Ratchet & Clank. The fact that the sci-fi series is only available on Nintendo Switch is especially upsetting for Switch users, who tend to love animal platformers the most. Lucky for people who like the look of Ratchet & Clank, Nintendo’s system has a lot of great platform games that can satisfy their needs.
Top 10 Nintendo Switch Games
1. Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Insomniac Games made both the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and the Ratchet and Clank series, so they have something in common. The American company made the first three Spyro games for PlayStation 1 before moving on to the first Ratchet and Clank game.
Unfortunately, the quality of the Spyro games dropped sharply after Insomniac stopped making them. After The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, which came out in 2008, many people thought the series was dead. But after the success of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Activision and Toys For Bob worked together to make the first three Spyro games better than they were before.
Fans liked the Spyro Reignited Trilogy because, like the N. Sane Trilogy, it brought the famous series back to life with a beautiful new look that makes the game exciting for both adults who are used to the series and kids who are trying it for the first time. As with the Ratchet and Clank series, all three games in the updated collection are a mix of action and platforming. The third game, in particular, added a lot of new possible characters and ways to play.
2. Yooka-Laylee
Attention was always going to be drawn to a game that is seen as a spiritual replacement to the famous Banjo-Kazooie. Yooka-Laylee by Playtonic Games got its start on Kickstarter, where it broke many records for how much money it raised. A lot of people had high hopes for the game, but it didn’t live up to them, and many were unhappy with the end result. This version for the Nintendo Switch got 75 out of 100, which is 17 points less than Banjo-Kazooie.
Even though it’s not as good as Banjo-Kazooie, Playtonic Games’ adventure is still worth a look for anyone who likes games in this genre. The first level is especially well-thought-out; players can get lost in it for hours, finding all the secrets and hidden things that are hidden everywhere.
3. Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Kirby and the Forgotten Land came out in March 2022 for the Nintendo Switch only. Fans and experts both liked the game, as shown by its 8.8 user score and 85 critic score on the review aggregator site Metacritic.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land quickly caught the attention of Kirby fans because it was the first main series game in the series to be fully 3D. It also had beautiful art design and a wide copy system that often leads to funny results.
4. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Donkey Kong is another mascot figure that has been around for a long time and has seen many changes in video games over the years.
The Wii U game Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has been moved to the Nintendo Switch. It is thought to be just as good as the original Donkey Kong Country for the SNES, which is very high praise. There are a few new features in the Nintendo Switch version. For example, Funky Kong can be played as in the New Funky Mode. Funky Kong is a lot better at the game than Donkey Kong, which makes it a lot easier.
5. Hollow Knight
In the past few years, Metroidvania games have become very popular again, which is great. The eighth generation of platforms has a lot of great old games, and Hollow Knight is just one of them. Almost every important part of the game was great. The gameplay, music, and level design all made Hollow Knight one of the best Metroidvania games ever.
Hollow Knight won a lot of awards, including Independent Game of the Year at the Australian Game Awards, and got a great Metascore of 90 on the Nintendo Switch.
6. Guacamelee! 2
Next up is Guacamelee! 2, which came out in August 2018 on PC, PlayStation 4, and a couple of months later on Nintendo Switch. It’s another great modern Metroidvania game. Guacamelee! 2 by DrinkBox Studios is a lot like Hollow Knight in that it stays true to the Metroidvania games of the past while also adding a lot of new features that make it stand out from other games.
Along with its unique art style, Guacamelee! 2 stands out for its new ways of fighting, which are based on Lucha Libre, a popular style of professional wrestling in Mexico.
7. Okami HD
Okami HD, which is based on The Legend of Zelda, might not have as many platforming parts as Ratchet & Clank or any other game on this list. But Clover Studio’s old adventure is one of the best third-person adventures of all time, so you should definitely check it out.
It was praised by everyone and got a 93 Metascore when it came out for the PlayStation 2, but it didn’t do well in the sales department. Thanks to the Nintendo Wii port and multiple Okami HD versions, the adventure finally got the big hit it always deserved.
8. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury brings Super Mario 3D World from the Wii U to the Nintendo Switch and adds Bowser’s Fury for good measure. The Nintendo 3DS game Super Mario 3D Land is a lot like the Super Mario 3D World part of the game. Both have small, tightly planned levels. Bowser’s Fury, on the other hand, has one big stage that is split up into smaller areas.
Drive Mad has a lot of cool features that might be used in the next main Mario game. For example, Bowser is always there and will sometimes show out of nowhere to cause trouble as players try to find Cat Shrines.
9. Ori and the Will of the Wisps
The third and final Metroidvania game on this list is Ori and the Will of the Wisps. It’s a great choice for Ratchet & Clank fans because it’s a lot like that series in terms of how it’s played and how it fights.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is great for more than just platforming and fighting, though. It’s better than its predecessor because it has more open-world features. Around halfway through the game, the world opens up a lot, and players can take a break from the main story to do side tasks and other activities.
10. Super Mario Odyssey
The fact that Super Mario Odyssey is on this list probably won’t surprise too many people. Mario, video games’ most famous character, once again set a new standard for all platform games with Super Mario Odyssey, which has received a huge 97 Metascore and is now considered one of the best games of all time.
Super Mario Odyssey has a lot of content, beautifully designed levels, and a great feature that lets players “capture” things and living things on the stages to get an edge. This is a clever way to add a lot of new gameplay elements to the series that has been around for a long time.
